Yangon's new Internet Service Provider MeLink
One of our colleagues discovered a new Internet Service Provider in the city a few nights ago: We--link. Buranmar GT Broadband Co, Ltd. is a new Internet Service Provider, which is now only available in the municipality of Mayangone, Yangon. December 15, 2009 saw the opening of WeLink's first Myanmar Plaza exhibition space.
Technologically, WeLink runs a fibre optic FTTH (FTTB) system that can link both single homes and condominiums. This pricelist is slightly less expensive than the other fibre suppliers. Example, 1Mbps with WeLink costs you 69,000 MMC versus 80,000 MMC with Fortune Broadband. The costs of installing the software are set at 200,000 MMC and includes a WiFi Wi-Fi WiFi connection.
This is also quite cheap in comparison to the other fibre suppliers. For Fortune Broadband, 500,000 MMC are usually charged for the fibre optic cable install, but has just started a Christmas campaign with 300,000 MMC for a 1 year subscription and 200,000 MMC for a 2 year subscription. The Myanmar GT Broadband cannot guaranty a timeframe for the install, it depends mainly on the site.
By the way, we haven't found a trace of a local AS or IP area for Myanmar GT Broadband. That means that the Internet Service Provider is either not yet active or obtains the Internet from a party who handles IP traffic for him. WeLink' customers service says it obtains its Internet from Ooredoo and MPT.
There' s a good possibility that We Link will rely on Golden TMH Telecom's network which Hurricane Electric says is comparable to MPT and Ooredoo. Please also be aware that we are only offering an on-going campaign for the first 100 clients. The costs of installing the software are cut by 50% and the band width is redoubled within 6 month.
