Khatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon (Myanmar)
The Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake is a neat five-star sleeping place amidst palms and lush vegetation. Yangon and all of Myanmar emerged from their former identity as Rangoon and Burma, the Chatrium is an elegant and two epochs without trying too much to be stylish or vintage.
Every room has room-high patio windows and a Julia terrace from which, if you are on the side of the lake/pagoda, you can see the beautiful Shwedagon. Included in the rooms are lounges for all-day refreshment, free teas, dinner drinks and use of the conference room and our office.
Lilawadee Spa in the Chatrium has recently moved and expanded; the gymnasium will remain small. The large Swimmingpool, which is dominated by the two windows of the L-shaped hotel, is dominating the area. The Ritz Exclusive Lounge on the first level is the perfect place for informal gatherings and a drinks, although its caraoke rooms offer exclusiveness and rideability.
There are six restaurants in the hotel with a rich and varied selection of breakfasts (Western, Japonese, Mandarin and Indian) in the Emporia. A marbled lounging room and adjoining patio offer a networked area with many chairs, niches and a café-store. Situated on a hillside just south of the Chatrium is the massively World Heritage-listed Shwedagon Pagoda, the coronation of Yangon (and Myanmar).
Across from the hotel, the eponymous Royal Lake and its green gardens are a pleasant getaway from the hooting Yangon cabs (every night they see a foreigner). While there are few places to eat or do nearby, the hotel shuttles (free) or a cab will soon take you through the hustle and bustle of the city centre and the glory of its colorful archi¬tecture (tragically abandoned).
Visit the Sule Pagoda, the Pansodan Colonial Heritage Trail, the Supreme Court and the Scott Market.
