The Yangon For Budget Backpackers: Go to & come from

The Yangon is the most important traffic junction in Myanmar. You will probably find yourself here many often at the airport or coach terminal! It'?s the airport: You can take an airline from Yangon to Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur. Yangon airport is very small, there is not much to see or do, so you don't have to be at the airport 3 hrs in advance - as recommended for flighting.

You must travel on either Myanmar Airways, Air Bagan, Air Mandalay or Yangon Airways for internal use. Flying time and timetables can vary within a few moments, so you can walk to the airport or miss your entire trip. Because of the government's web bans on many sites, you cannot purchase airline travel when you are in the state.

Either you must reserve all your seats in advance (and take your seats with you) or have a tour operator for you. The price for a cab from the airport to your accommodation (if near Sule Paya) is $10USD. Sule Paya is the starting point of the city' s coaches.

In order to get to the Aung Mingalar station outside the city, take the 43 coach (it will be in Burmese, so you will have to ask). From here you start to Mandalay, Bagan, Inle Lake, etc. From Sule Pagoda Street between Sule Pagoda and Anawrahta Street, take the Sule Pagoda Airport Sule.

Mingalar is a very dust, confusingly busy coach station. Inle Lake to Yangon: Many night busses run to Yangon. Our tickets were purchased through our hotels and the costs were 15.000kyt for this 14-15 hours drive. Once you arrive at Yangon central station, take the inexpensive Backpackerweg and take the No. 34 200kyt coach to Sule Pagodaircle.

It is a brief stroll, a three wheel tour or a cab trip to your accommodation. Yangon to Mandalay, Bagan or Inle Lake: There are 3 different ways to get from Yangon: by coach, rail or air. and we took a coach from Yangon to Bagan. The 15000kyt trip took about 12 hours....we reached Bagan at 2:30am, which is not the perfect moment to look for a guest house!

Not only is the fact that the prize is higher (and therefore more taxpayers' dollars go to the government), but we rather go slow and see all the places of interest, country and folk on the way from point a to point b. How is the old adage?
