Aung San Suu Kyi's magnetism and human bravery are inextricably linked to the history of contemporary Myanmar. Upon her comeback to Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi became the prodemocracy movement's president, was under prolonged detention, was the object of at least one attempted murder, received the Nobel Peace Prize and won two landsliding electoral wins, in 1990 and 2015.
The Woman and the Peacock", Peter Popham's autobiography of her, is a fervent and legible report on her exceptional past aura. The only disadvantage is that it was first released in 2012 and therefore does not address the recent policy incidents that may have changed Myanmar's fortunes. I strongly suggest her essay compilation "Freedom from Fear" for Aung San Suu Kyi's own portrayal of her turbulent being.
Her " Letter from Burma " also shows a graphic portrayal of her loved land and its people. When I was in the north Kachin state, I was intrigued to see "Life in the Valley of Death" by Alan Rabinowitz. Born in New York, known as Indiana Jones of Wildlife Protection, he is a former Managing director of the Wildlife Conservation Society's Department of Sciences and Exploration. 2.
It is a report on the period he spends in Myanmar's secluded Hukaung Valley to build the world's biggest tigerserve.
