Naypyidaw? Where's Naypyidaw?

Myanmar's new capitol

It was hard for me to find information about what to see and do in Naypyidaw, Myanmar's newborn city. After my June 2015 trip, I chose to create a guidebook that would be inspired by my own experiences and all the advice, suggestions and information we received on our way to Naypyidaw.

The city of Naypyidaw is the new capitol of Myanmar or Burma. The Myanmar or SPDC (State Peace and Development Council) moved the capitol from Yangon to Pyinmana on Sunday, November 6, 2005. The Pyinmana district was officially called " Naypyidaw " (also Nay Pyi Tawor Naypyitaw) on 27 March 2006.

In June 2015 I went to Naypyidaw. And I hadn't really known much about this town. Only until a mate of mine sent some photos of a new town, was "born" in the midst of nowhere - just a few words before my journey to Myanmar. There was nothing in the overnight stay.

And we were the only people in this big hospital. Typical y you are entering Myanmar through the former Burmese capitol Yangon. Coming from Yangon you can get to Naypyidaw by coach on the four-lane A323. However, when you get to Naypyidaw, note that it is very costly to move around the town and the distances are long.

Naypyidaw Airport" was opened on December 19, 2011, but I am not sure if it is open for visitors. Naypyidaw is completely rebuilt and the BIG is in the government's mind. According to officials, with only 924,608 inhabitants, the town is empty and there are long stretches between the different areas.

Hiking is not an optional activity for you, and you will probably be amazed at how big Naypyidaw really is. In order to get to your accommodation from the coach terminal, you will need to speak with the local people or ask your accommodation to help you. 000-kayat (about $10) to get from Myoma Coach Terminal to our southern Naypyidaw leg.

Note that you cannot check the prices in towns like Yangon and Naypyidaw. By the time you get to the motel, you know that there are long journeys between the rides. It is about 10 km from Myoma bus station to the city. Things I did was to engage a personal cab driving from the motel, I appreciate that most or all motels can do that.

$60 is costly and a great deal of cash in Myanmar, but you need it, and you will be driving many miles that particular outing. We were driving 125 km in the town in one was. This is a great place to visit (a few visits from our hotels, go to the shops for lunches and see all the attractions).

Have a look at the maps below and see where the Naypyidaw area is. Wherever you can stay: The majority of our accommodation is situated near the Yaza Thingaha Road in the southern part of Naypyidaw. Naypyidaw is a more affordable city than the remainder of Myanmar, but you can find prices up to $50.

I understand there are no guesthouses in Naypyidaw and you cannot remain in many of the near towns for the administration, just do it. Most of the properties are situated in two areas, the Hotelzone (1) and Hotelzone (2), and both are a few kilometres from Naypyidaw's various tourist sites.

The 48 fourty-eight hotel and 442 guest houses were built to accommodate the 2013 Southeast Asian Games, which took place in Naypyidaw. Aside from the fact that the hotel is large and mostly empty. The birth of a new town! Perhaps the primary purpose of seeing and experiencing Naypyidaw is to see a big town being reborn and rebuilt from the ground up. Driving through a town where it is less than 10 years old is intriguing. Consider the area of the streets (infrastructure), see the different areas of the town, hotelzone, housing area, administrative area and so on.

The motorway was the major tourist feature in Naypyidaw for me. Naypyidaw's parliamentary buildings are located next to the 20-lane motorway. It was a hot and sunny holiday in Naypyidaw when we went to this place and it was full of local people trying to get cold in the swimming pools. This will be below normal if you have seen a garden in the USA or Europe, but keep in mind that there is not much in Naypyidaw, so try it out!

The distance from the grounds of the guesthouse to the gardens is 6,5 km. Former administration centre was in Pyinmana, 15 km from Naypyidaw. The town Pyinmana is more like a "real" town with about 100 inhabitants. PyinMaNa has some guesthouses and accommodation, but you are not permitted to spend the night there for the authorities.

When you have just come from Yangon and have seen the Yangon pit stop, it is not so dramatic, so don't expect to be here for a whole night. It is still a symbolic and emblematic city. It is 30 cm short than the Shwedagon in Yangon to show respect!

At present, the town has 1,200 four-storey multi-family houses. I' ve created a card on which I can find all the activities and rides mentioned in Naypyidaw. What's the security like in Naypyidaw? Burma is one of the most corruption-stricken countries in the run. Myanmar is a relatively secure place in terms of criminality.

In my own way, Myanmar and Naypyidaw were generally safer to see. It is only for us in Naypyidaw, so be especially cautious if you take a private'taxi'. It was well deserved a look for me, we only stayed a whole days in Naypyidaw. All in all, it is more to be there and to see a new big town.
