Taoiseach Lee Hsien Loong paid an offical visit to Myanmar from June 7-9, 2016. Nay Pyi Taw attended PM from 7 to 8 June 2016 and Yangon from 8 to 9 June 2016. The Prime Minister's visit marked the fiftieth centenary of the establishing of the Singapore-Myanmar Diplomacy Association.

At Nay Pyi Taw, the Prime Minister held meetings with President U Htin Kyaw, State Councillor, Union Minister in the presidency and Foreign Minister Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, as well as the Chairman of the Union Solidarity and Development Party and former President U Thein Sein. At Yangon, the Prime Minister was involved in the founding of the Singapore-Myanmar Vocational Training Institute and participated in a welcome with Singapore.
