The actual draw, however, is the path that leads through wonderful mountainscapes. The Pindaya is about 2.5 hrs from Lake Inle. Myanmar has lovely walking areas, especially in the northern part of the state to Hsipaw and Kyaukme, where mountain scenery offers great outings.
You can also take a three-day hike to Lake Kalaw and Lake Inle. The Hpa-an is the capitol of Karen State, just outside Burma. Several places to visit: several caverns, Zwegabin mountain, Kyauk Ka Lat mountain range, but the main attractions of this area are the lovely scenery that reminds of Yangshuo in China or Halong Bay in Vietnam.
Burma has 2000 km of coast and many uncharted sands. Located 45 flight min. from Yangon, Ngapali is Burma's most well known and highly advanced country: its 3 km of long beach of palms and sandy beach is located on the Andaman Sea. A further important Buddhistic place of worship in Burma: this large, gold-clad cliff, which is in balance and according to tradition is kept by a Buddha's finger.
Hpo Win is a little known Buddhist ensemble near Monywa (170 km western of Mandalay), consisting of century-old caverns and galeries hewn into the rocks and used as places of worship.
