Tigerair, or Tiger Airways, is a low-cost carrier with its headquarters in Singapore and is located at Singapore Changi Airport. TIGERMAIR serves many locations in Southeast Asia, China and India, among them Bangalore, Bangkok, Cebu, Clark, Chennai, Chiang Mai, Denpasar, Dhaka, Guangzhou, Guilin, Haikou, Hanoi, Hat Yai, Ho Chi Minh City, Ipoh, Jinan, Jakarta, Kalibo, Macau, Male, Penang, Ningbo, Nanning, Phuket, Shezhen, Taipei, Surabaya and many others.
Founded in 2004, the company is a Singapore Airlines Limited affiliate and is a Singapore domiciled leader in low-cost air transport and a smooth client service. On February 21, 2006, Tigerair was the first low-cost carriers in Singapore to obtain operational approval from the China aeronautical authority for the towns of Haikou, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the south of China.
Tigerair's Airbus A319-100 and Airbus A320-200 fleets have code-share arrangements with Golden Myanmar Airlines. Chris Mills, CEO of Gold Coast Airport, said the Hobart facility would improve coastal access to a burgeoning tourism hot spot. "It' s great to see Tigerair increasing his involvement on the Gold Coast and we look forward to welcome the Tasmanians to windsurf, sandy and sunny this summer," he said.
