The state of Cachin in the north of Myanmar is the birth place of the Ayeyarwaddy Rivier. This state is known for its richness in Java and golden and also for its highest peak in Southeast Asia, Khakaborazi. Myitkyina is an elevated area on the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy rivier.

There is farmland and garden along the Ayeyarwaddy rivulet on the muddy ground. Along the Ayeyarwaddy there are groups of individuals looking for bullion. Twenty-eight leagues from Myitkyina is the birth place of the Ayeyarwaddy (or the MayKha and Malika confluence). This picturesque cruise takes you past small river towns and fisher men's vessels and gives you an insight into marine activities along Myanmar's main river. Get back to the city in good season to see the solid Buddha picture in the sight of Gyi Pagoda and watch the sun set from the Shwesandaw Pagoda. In Myanmar and the surrounding area, Mogok is known for its gemstones and landmines.

Few however know that Mogok also has a charming mixture of ethnical groups and beautiful, scenically attractive itineraries. From Mandalay it will take about 5 hrs to reach the hill. As you would expect, the small city has an interesting gemstone fair and many picturesque pasta and cuisines.

Beyond the trade centre you can go to mining sites, mountain towns and hikes to see some of the best sundowns. It is also possible to see the surrounding towns where the local people produce Palmenwein and Molasse. The Golden Rock, or Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, must be seen to be thought. Precarious on the edges of a rock and apparently despite the force of nature, the solid rock is entirely coated with goldfields.

Travelling on the railroads through some of the most beautiful scenery, and getting on the railroad is a great way to get in touch with locals, so it's a good idea to make a brief journey by car during your Myanmar vacation.

Observe some of the area' s towns, farmhouses and other stunning scenery as the rail heads for northward. Then get yourself prepared for the highlight: the Gokteik-Brücke ( "Gokteik Bridge") overpass. It is the highest of its kind in Myanmar and was once the biggest rail link in the whole wide open area.

You can then travel by car or train to Kyauk Me for a trek or you can return to Mandalay by car.
