Thailand is situated in Southeast Asia and with a surface area of approx. 513,000 km² is the biggest 50. land in the whole wide area and the 12. biggest in Asia! Northest is Amphoe Mae Sai, Chiang Rai Province, with touristic sites like Mae Sai Market, Golden Triangle, Wat Phra That Doi Wao and Wat Thampla (locally known as Money Temple).
It is located in the southern part of the Philippines, next to Malaysia and the Gulf of Thailand. Southest is Amphoe Betong, Yala Province, which includes touristic sites such as La-ong Rung Waterfall, Chaloem Phrakiat Waterfall (I-yer Khem Waterfall), Bala-Hala Forest, the Misty Ocean at Microwave Mountain and Betong Hot Spring.
To the east is Amphoe Si Mueang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani Province, with touristic sites like Sai Rung Waterfall, Kaeng Chu Kan and Hin Huai Soob Stone Yard. To the west is Amphoe Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son Province, with touristic sites like Wat Phra That Chom Thong, Wat Phra That Chom Chaeng, Wat Phra That Chom Kitti, Salawin National Park, Bua Tong Field near Doi Mae Ho and Mae Sawan Noi Waterfall.
There are six different areas of Thailand: Thailands highest summit, Doi Inthanon, is known among visitors during the cold seasons for the Mae Kha Ning phenomena (frost flower) as well as a ocean of mist, natural paths, falls and botanic szenes. Favourite places along the Mekong River are Amphoe Chiang Khan in Loei province, Tha Sadet Market in Nong Khai province, Indochina Market in Mukdahan province and Sam Pan Bok Grand Canyon in Ubon Ratchathani province.
The central part of Thailand is mainly a plain and a vast area for growing rices and agricultural land. Chao Phraya River is very important for the Thai population. Places of interest are old historic palaces, Bang Pa-in Royal Palace and Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center in Ayutthaya province and Koh Kret in Nonthaburi province.
If you like to shop, Bangkok has many indigenous stores such as Wang Lang Market, Tha Phra Chan Market, Saphan Phut (Memorial Bridge) Night Market and Asiatique Night Market. There are many nice sandy spots and islets in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea.
Famous touristic places are the province Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lipe and Koh Tao. East Thailand is half hill, half sea. Though there are not many counties here, there are still many astonishing places to see and breathtaking places like Koh Samed, Koh Chang, Koh Mak, Koh Lan, Koh Si Chang, Bang Saen Beach, Pattaya, Jomtien Beach, Laem Mae Phim Beach and Mae Ram Phueng Beach.
Touristic sites are Thong Pha Phum National Park, Srinakharin Dam, Vajiralongkorn Dam, Sai Yok Noi Waterfall, Sai Yok Yai Waterfall, Erawan Waterfall, Mon Bridge, Mueang Sing Historical Park, Three Pagodas Pass, Wat Wang Wiwekaram, Underwater City, Kwai River Bridge, Kanchanaburi War Cemetery and Museum and Art Gallery.
There are three distinct tourist periods in Thailand: humid, cold and warm. It is always good to review the conditions before your visit, as some areas are better in certain season.
