Taiunggyi is the capitol of Shan State in eastern Myanmar. It is easy to buy an expresskarte to Taunggyi at the dealership, usually in a market. These are JJ, Elite, Taung Paw Thar, Shwe Taung Yoe and Shan Ma Lay. The price of your trip varies depending on the distances between your location and Taunggyi, but not more than 20,000kyats.

Widespread in Taunggyi is excess Tatmadaw equipment. Taunggyi has two main types of population. They' re the Shan and Pa Oe tribes. Being in Taunggyi, one can see differently between Shan and Pa Oe' men, because many Pa Oe' are wearing their old fashioned dress and put scarves around their head, because it is not only tradition, but also to keep their head hot, because it is freezing in Taunggyi.
They like shan macaroni. When in Taunggyi or somewhere in Myanmar where Shan pasta is available, you should definitely try them because they are awesome! You may also like Ngar Hta Minn Nel (yellowish fishing rice), Wet Tha Chin (reddish pig rice), Kyat Tha Chin (reddish poultry rice) and Htoe Huu Nwe (pasta with yellowy pasta from a kind of powdered beans).
Taunggyi city centre has many of them. However, during the Tha Zaung Dyne Festivals (also known as Fire Balloon Festival) the prizes are very high. A lot of folks all over the land come to Taunggyi to watch the event. If you cannot find accommodation at all, you can sleep in a convent by asking the monaster.
No one will ask you to make a payment for a visit to a convent, but you can make a donation if you wish. Almost all Myanmar convents provide not only accommodation, but also eating and drinking, if you ask for it. In 1741291 Hopong, 20 km eastwards of Taunggyi.
The Kayan are living south of Loikaw and western of the Salween River in the hills between 1,000 and 1,500 meters, among them the famed Padaung ladies with their gold brassy neckline that seem to extend their necks (but actually cause a lower shoulder).
