The South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands are members of the Steering Group of the Training and Research Programme, which promotes the management of the CDP. Each year JNCC asks the Academy's and CD's for information about their three main research areas (members of the Academy and the CD Training and Research Programme Steering Group).

A number of research grants, which include JNCC research contributions, will be awarded on the basis of these priority areas.
