On the Embassy
In 1966 Singapore entered into political engagement with the Union of Myanmar. But the embassy in Yangon was not opened until May 1984. Originally it worked from the Inya Lake Hotel before hiring a cottage at 287 Pyay Road, Sanchaung Township, Yangon. Later, on June 11, 1993, the embassy relocated to another leased building at 326 Pyay Road, Sanchaung Township, Yangon.
The Embassy moved to its 238 Dhamazedi Road, Bahan Township, Yangon, on May 12, 2003. David Low was named the first Charge d'Affaires in Yangon. First Ambassador of the Embassy was Mr Calvin Eu, who took office on 20 June 1994. Ambassador is Ms Vanessa Chan, who took up her duties on 18 December 2017.
