Shenyang Imperial PalaceEmperor's Palace of Shenyang
?). The Mukden Palace is the former imperial palace of the Qing Dynasty. Shenyang Imperial Palace is located in the center of Shenyang City, in the middle of a large residential area.
Mukden Palace (Simplified Chinese: Gùg?ng; Pinyin: Shèngj?ng ????), or Shenyang Imperial Palace (Simplified Chinese: Gùg?ng; Pinyin: Gùg?ng ), was the former imperial palace of the early Manchu-led Qing Cynasty. The first three Qing kings stayed there from 1625 to 1644.
The palace was transformed into a permanent exhibition after the fall of imperial domination in China. Today it is located in the centre of the town of Shenyang in the Liaoning County. The early building was started in 1625 by Nurhaci, the founders of the Qing family. Mukden Palace was constructed to look like the Prohibited City in Peking.
The palace also shows references to Manchu and Tibetian style. When the Qing Empire succeeded the Ming in Beijing in 1644, the Mukden Palace ceased to be the Qing Emperor's formal home. Instead, the Mukden Palace became a local palace. The Qianlong King extended the palace in 1780.
Qing Emperor and Qing Emperor in succession usually remained in Mukden Palace for some while. The Mukden Palace was transformed into the Shenyang Imperial Palace Museum in 1955. It was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2004 as an expansion of the Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties or Beijing Prohibited City.
