?). The Mukden Palace is the former imperial palace of the Qing Dynasty. Shenyang Imperial Palace is located in the center of Shenyang City, in the middle of a large residential area.

Mukden Palace (Simplified Chinese: Gùg?ng; Pinyin: Shèngj?ng ????), or Shenyang Imperial Palace (Simplified Chinese: Gùg?ng; Pinyin: Gùg?ng ), was the former imperial palace of the early Manchu-led Qing Cynasty. The first three Qing kings stayed there from 1625 to 1644.

The palace was transformed into a permanent exhibition after the fall of imperial domination in China. Today it is located in the centre of the town of Shenyang in the Liaoning County. The early building was started in 1625 by Nurhaci, the founders of the Qing family. Mukden Palace was constructed to look like the Prohibited City in Peking.

The palace also shows references to Manchu and Tibetian style. When the Qing Empire succeeded the Ming in Beijing in 1644, the Mukden Palace ceased to be the Qing Emperor's formal home. Instead, the Mukden Palace became a local palace. The Qianlong King extended the palace in 1780.

Qing Emperor and Qing Emperor in succession usually remained in Mukden Palace for some while. The Mukden Palace was transformed into the Shenyang Imperial Palace Museum in 1955. It was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2004 as an expansion of the Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties or Beijing Prohibited City.

Shenyang Imperial Palace, situated on Shenyang Road, Shen District in Shenyang City, is the only remaining imperial palace in China outside the Prohibited City in Beijing. With an area of more than 60,000 sq. m., the Shenyang Imperial Palace is one 12th the area of the Prohibited City in Beijing.

There are three parts - the east part, the central part and the west part. To the east is the very imposing Hall of Great Affairs (Da Zheng Dian). It was here that the emperor conquered the empire, issued imperial decrees and greeted conquering commanding general and warriors. Shenyang Imperial Palace is inimitable.

Its east part is typical for the whole castle. Mid-section begins at Da Qing Gate, with Chong Zheng Dian (Jin Luan Dian), Phoenix Tower and Qingning Palace located on a center line from southwest to northeast. The place where Abahai farmed is Chong Zheng Dian.

It' the most important edifice in the Shenyang Imperial Palace. Phoenix Tower, a three-storey edifice, was the tallest edifice in the town. Abahai and his concubines slept in Qinging Palace. Shenyang Imperial Palace is home to many old monuments such as Nurhachi's saber and Abahai's saber.

Shenyang Imperial Palace is the only palace building in China other than the Prohibited City in Beijing. In 2004, UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site as an expansion of the Prohibited City and today it is the most famous and beloved touristic destination in Shenyang.
