La, Yangon (Horizon Club Room)
A few month ago I made the decision to take the leap out of my comfy area and go to Yangon after having heard so much about it. I have a direct connection to Yangon from Singapore Airlines (SQ998), which was also the Saturday I took to maximize my time there.
Here you can see some of my trip highlight from my Yangon! week-end. As Myanmar is gradually opening up to more tourist and investment from abroad, it is still in the early stages of large-scale tourist development, so if you're interested in seeing the town before it develops, it's best to visit it by the end of 2017.
Along Sule Pagoda Road is one of the most luxury Yangon cities most famous luxury resort - Sule Shangri-La, Yangon. After a comprehensive renovation and schooling of the property's personnel, Sule Shangri-La, Yangon was renamed by a Traders in 2014. So I decided to use the motel sedan to take me from Yangon International Airport to the motel and similar to an early stop at Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang, the sedan came fitted with high-speed WiFi so that you can keep in touch on the way to the motel.
While visiting Yangon, I spent the night in a Horizon Club Room and as a member of Golden Circle Jade, on the first of my days I got all my favorite comforts (!). But what Sule Shangri-La, Yangon is, is a combination of Myanmar's colorful past and a high standard of services.
The room is not exactly large (approx. 34 sqm), but it had everything I needed for a pleasant time in Yangon. In addition to my favourite conveniences I chose before I arrived at Sule Shangri-La, Yangon, the astonishing people at the estate have also made sure that I can taste some of the locals' Snack.
Whereas I have gotten many presents from properties all over the globe because I am a faithful member, I generally favour a localized present over a diary (you would be amazed at how many diaries I have gotten over the years). To be honest, the master suite of Sule Shangri-La, Yangon reminds me a little of the older Tower Wing in the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore and while I generally like a more modern look in the rooms, the services and the meal (especially at breakfast!) have helped to make it up to me.
And if you're a traveler who likes to unpack your baggage as soon as you arrive in your room, there's a lot of room here in the Horizon Club Room. Horizon Club Room's en-suite is quite common to a regular commercial establishment - it also has one of those shubs (shower + bathtub) that I don't like myself, but I think there's a lack of room and I still choose a showers.
The one thing I thought was the use of the Shangri-La conveniences interoffice on a periodic basis - the other clubs rooms I have been able to use the higher quality L'Occitane en Provence spa ameniences (in fact, I got this on a overnight during the turndown), so I'm not sure if this is a make standart or just one that the property specifically sticks.
Although my room had no views of the Sule Pagoda, I had a rather impressing look at the town. You' ll also see one of Yangon's roof bar right in front of the motel - the Yangon Yangon Roof Top, situated on Sakura Tower.
While I couldn't get a look at it myself, as I was quite irmotivated to have a drinks outside the Horizon Club (I did end up in a few restaurants!), it looks like a really nice place to keep an eye on town. To be honest, if you live in Sule Shangri-La, Yangon, you already have one of the best prospects of the town.
When you plan to stay in the motel for a while, it is a good idea to invest in a Horizon Club room (or suite!), as it gives you entrance to the Horizon Club, which will serve you free drinks and drinks from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Horizon Club rooms are also on the highest levels of Sule Shangri-La, Yangon and offer a better view of the town ( and even the pagoda!).
When you are on a corporate travel, you will also appreciate the free clothes and shoe shine services, available only to Horizon Club-goers. Horizon Club is actually a rather large room and takes up a large edge of floor 21 - here too, Horizon Club customers can enter and exit privately, so you can enjoy easy drinks and refreshments while the lounging personnel prepare for your arrivals or departures.
Whilst I had the whole daily entrance to the Horizon club, I attended only during the evenings from 17:30 o'clock on. When you arrive early, you can even reserve a desk at the end of the lounges windows overlooking the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda in the evenings.
There' s also a fairly wide choice of warm and cool dishes, so if you're not really starving, the meal is definitely enough for a nice evening meal - otherwise there are a number of places to eat in and around the resort (within a 10-minute walk). As in most of the other major multinational chains, guests have the choice between a rich and varied rich and varied breakfasts served in the all-day restaurant (in this case the Cafe Sule) or a continuation valley with a limited choice in the private atmosphere of the clounge.
Cafe Sule is situated on the streets of Sule Shangri-La, Yangon, and offers breakfasts between 6:00 and 10:00 a.m. every day. In addition to an overseas choice that you can generally find in a luxurious resort, you will also be able to taste some of the favorites such as Mohinga, which is made from pasta and stock.
Whilst the Cafe Sule' s cosmopolitan choice was quite foreseeable during breakfasts, they were all really well made - to be honest, some of the most real hashish browns I've had for some time (super crunchy peel and wet insides!). Aside from the Malaysian choice, what really caught the eye at breakfasts was the Asiatic choice - even the Bak Kut Teh (which I had not expected in Yangon) was really legitim.
Sule Shangri-La, Yangon also has its own fitness and recreation center (also for those who are part of a sound member program), which includes a variety of cardio-vascular devices, a spa, saunas, steam baths, and massages and reflex zone treatment. Sule Shangri-La, Yangon is definitely one of the best hotel in the town of Yangon at this time and the standard of services is what distinguishes it from the others.
It' quite comfortable to explore the town by feet, but if you want to take a cab trip to the sights, you should be willing to bargain or buy a set number. It was a chaired audio-visual experience, although all opinions are my own.
