Almost two centuries later, the hotel remains the most sought after meeting place for businessmen and hotel visitors in Yangon.
Yangon, an important harbour in the British Empire, is still marked by its former empire after almost half a hundred years of mourning. The hotel personnel uniform celebrates Myanmar's colorful past by featuring the large traditionally decorated longgyi (a large scarf pleated into a cylindrically shaped shape) in original style especially created for the hotel.
Walking through the open spaces unveils other aspects of the property's culture with high, artfully decorated Myanmar vase, wood carved windows and custom artwork by indigenous artist such as Ba Khine and Hla Phone Aung, whose artwork adorns the hotel's cafe, meeting rooms and suite. It is a window to display the work of Burma's artisans and artisans, and their work is a display of Burma's rich history.

Renovations also involved the three other locations - Café Sule for global flavors and Asia's favorites; the Peacock Lounge, an informal place for exchange between business leaders and guests, and the gourmet shop with fresh bakery products, sweets and drinks.
