In the last two July few months, torrential rainfall has led to flooding and mudslides in several parts of the state. The Cyclone Comen, which landed in Bangladesh on 30 July, has created severe wind, rain and mudslides in several states and areas of Myanmar. President U Thein Sein published a declaration on July 31 in which he declared (1) Chin State, (2) Sagaing Religion, (3) Magway Religion and (4) Rakhine State to be areas of great disasters.
