Ranong Kawthaung

Yangtze Kawthaung

Sailing, yacht charter and personal cruise in Myanmar & surroundings Coming to Myanmar from Thailand, you will have to pass the rivers that link the two states. From Ranong take a cab to the Ranong jetty, from where the ferries depart for Kawthaung. Driving from Phuket airport usually lasts 3-4 hrs and should be 4200 - 5000 Thai Baht.

It will take about 30 min. from Ranong airport and will cost about 500 Baht. These are the Thai route descriptions if you want to show them to your driver: When you call us one hours before your scheduled departure, we will ship a long tail for you to collect. At the frontier crossing, the drivers will be waiting for you with a notice in their hands.

First, you have to pass through Thailand's immigration and frontier controls, just to the right within the frontier crossing area. Directly in front of the migration area is the long-tail jetty. These small and somewhat adventuresome looking vessels are the only means of transportation to Kawthaung. When you hire a vessel yourself, the journey across the stream costs 400 to 500 Baht.

They can also jump on a longtail join-in, in which case the charge should be about 50 Baht per each. Cruising the Thailand-Myanmar route will take 30 to 45 mins. Normally you don't have to leave the ship. Long tail Thai vessels arriving about 30-40 meters from Myanmar Immigration Pier (Myo Ma Jetty).

On the right side is the Myo Ma Jetty checkpoint.
