Congolese population likely to rise in Yangon
According to yesterday's Myawady Daily, the number of condos in Yangon could soon soar. "The home ownership act has been notified to the Hluttaw, (and the) housing population is likely to grow, said Daw May Su Aung, director of the Alliance International Development Co. of the Myawady Daily.
An owner-occupied apartment provides secure and healthy housing, with safety personnel, a 24-hour power source and an adequate source of fresh running-current. Yangon's responsive approach may change," she went on. Nevertheless, even medium-sized companies cannot allow themselves condominiums due to the exploding price.
Business to population ratios in Myanmar bottom in the area
According to the Myanmar Busines Survey (MBS), the proportion of privately owned companies to the population of Myanmar is about three time lower than that of the least advanced nations in the area. MBS has shown that Myanmar's residential market is not very diversified and the corporate/population relationship is 2.46 per 1000 inhabitants. In the Asia-Pacific area, the least advanced nations are 9 per 1000 inhabitants, which makes Myanmar three of that.
In addition, one third of all companies are located in the Yangon and Mandalay region, the residual two third in other Myanmar areas. Therefore, this poll will help policy makers who are trying to resolve these problems," said the UNDP Asia Pacific Regional Executive Mr Haoliang Xu. According to MBS, there are over 23,000 companies in the Yangon region, over 19,000 in the Mandalay region and only between 1000 and 2000 in the states of Kachin, Chin and Kayah.
There are not only a few companies in Myanmar, but companies also have low levels of production, according to the Inquiry. In 2015, the value of Myanmar's consumer goods industry exceeded K5520 billion for foods, drinks and tobaccos, over K1400 billion for textile, clothing and leathers, over K429 billion for rubbers and plastics, over K300 billion for chemical substances, over K262 billion for landmines and over K178 billion for other commodities,
Therefore, the adoption of a new statistics act is important to gather personal statistics," said CSO General Manager Dr. Wah Wah Wah Maung in the document. When it comes to trade registrations, 79% of companies throughout the entire nation are recorded at the municipal planning stage.
Registrations of miners and contractors at EU and local government are over 50 percent and 70 percent respectively. Registering this with the General Administration Department (GAD) is six pc, while registering with the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) is only over three pc, the reports say. The number of resellers and traders registered at Union, local, DICA and GAD registers is 30, 85, 2 and 8 units respectively.
The number of companies registered at Union, local, DICA and GAD levels is 38, over 75, over 3 and over 75. "DICA agencies will soon open across the nation for better capital expenditure statistics," DICA General Manager U Aung Naing Oo said to the Myanmar Times.
MBS is the first of its kind in Myanmar, and officers say it will be carried out every two years. It interviewed a random sampling of nearly 15,000 companies across the nation, representing more than 126,000 companies in Myanmar's production, trading and service industries.
Non-employed companies in the general government and the communications industry were not surveyed.
