Known as the Republic of Myanmar, or just Myanmar, Burma is a supreme state in Southeast Asia. Burma borders China, Thailand, India, Laos and Bangladesh and has a combined length of 3,651 nautical mile, which includes a 1,199 mile coast. A little smaller than the state of Texas, Burma has a combined area of 261,227 sq. m., making it the fortieth biggest state in the state.
In July 2013, Burma has an expected population of about 55,000,000 and a concentration of about 211 per sq m. The number of Burma's residents is very high. Yangon is Burma's biggest town ('2012) with 4,300,000 population. Governed by three ruling families since 849, Burma was colonised by Britain after three Anglo-Burmese battles that took place between 1824 and 1885.
On January 4, 1948, Burma became an autonomous and autonomous state. A vast 89% of Burmese Buddhists practise Buddhism, 4% Islamists, 4% Christians, while the other 3% are members of various religions, with Hinduism and animism included. Nonetheless, the Christians and Muslims face persecutions of religion and find it difficult to join the armed forces or get a job in the state.
Independently, it is estimated that the Islamic population accounts for between 6 and 10 per cent of Myanmar's population. Myanmar is the native-speaking country of the Bamar people (68 percent) and the country's main administrative langauge. Myanmar also speaks a large number of different tongues, especially among nationalities. The other important Burma tongues are Shan (5.8%), Karen people (.7%), Rohingya (1.8%), Kachin (1.6%), Chin (1.4%), Mon (1.3%) and Rakhine (Burmese accent, 1.3%).
Though Myanmar is full of gems, petroleum, natural and other minerals, it is one of the world' s impoverished countries due to its decade-long standstill and insulation. There is not enough energy and only 25 per cent of the population has it. Myanmar had a $90 PPS.
In 2012, this figure was 93 billion dollars, while per head GNP (PPP) was put at 1,400 dollars. Its main export markets are Thailand, India and China, where it supplies raw materials such as oil, petroleum, natural gases, timberstuffs, legumes, coffee, beans, seafood, rices, clothing, jades and precious stones.
