Prior to arriving in this small city in northern Myanmar, the locomotive passes over a metal footbridge that stretches across a solid and very quaint canyon. If you want to get to Hsipaw, in northern Burma, the best way is to take the panoramic railway from Mandalay abroad. The journey by rail lasts approx. 10h. From Mandalay, take the quicker coach trip.
The journey takes about 6h. Wherefore go - Before my first journey to Myanmar ended, I travelled a few hrs southwards of Yangon to see Kyaiktiyo. Kinpun, the departure point of the hike to Mount Kyaiktiyo, lies 4 hrs from Yangon by coach. The Kinpun is the basecamp town where you can find restaurants and accommodations.
