POLPAN (Polskie Badanie Panelowe) is a programme of Polish public panels conducted by the Research Team on Comparative Inequality at the Institute of Philosophy and Humanities of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In the Polish survey, the main emphasis is on describing the Polish society and its transformation over the last 25 years.

The POLPAN files and documentations of the 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2003 cycles are available for free in various file types in the GESIS - Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences and in the Polish Social Archives. 1 ] The latter also contains the POLPAN shaft dataset 2008 and the corresponding documents.

Originally, the 1988 poll was surveyed among a nationwide random sampling of the Polish mature populations (21-65 years) with 5,817 people. In 2008, for example, the random sampling included 1,825 people, 1,244 of whom are members of the rigorous panels, and 581 new recruits between the ages of 21 and 25. Surveys are collected by means of questionnaires from the Centre for Sociological Research[2] at PAN.

This poll gathers the following information: Occupation (employment, self-employment, non-regular and extra work, unemployed and domestic work); socioeconomic and policy positions and beliefs (prospects of progress and conflict origins, beliefs about incomes, opinion about the community, about privatisation and the markets, assessing a person's position and view on societal issues); acquaintance; familiy and domestic; mental and physical wellbeing; religious belief; intellect (Raven's Test); computer and Internet; population.
