The palmtop PC was a battery-powered computer about the size of a pocket calculator that was compatible with the IBM Personal Computer in a horizontal folding design with integrated keyboard and display. The PalmPilot is a good example of an early palmtop computer, as shown in the picture. Palm tops that use a pen instead of a keyboard are often referred to as handheld computers or PDAs. Most palmtop computers do not contain hard drives due to their small size.
