The NLD appoints U Htin Kyaw as President
Appointed as Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's presidential nomination, U Htin Kyaw ended four month of insecurity after her National League for Democracy's landmark electoral victor. NLD nomination of U Htin Kyaw, a trustworthy adviser, as its nominee in a meeting of the LGB.
Lacking an NLD formal record, there was early uncertainty as to whether U Htin Kyaw had been studying at Oxford University and whether he had been serving as the Daw Aung San Suu Kyi rider. The five-year mandate of President U Thein Sein ends on 30 March. The NLD has appointed 57-year-old Henry Van Thio Deputy President of the NLD Family. It has been revised to include misreported detail on Htin Kyaw's education and roles within the NLD.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who has said on several occasions that it will not stop her from running the NLD if she is excluded from the country's constitutional system, has long placed her trust in U Htin Kyaw, who has been appointed the NLD's presidential election today. Subtitle U Htin Kyaw was described as virtually descending from the NLD kingdom.
