Spotlight Travel Resort - Mergui Archipelago
The Mergui Archipelago with its 800 islets has become more open to the public in recent years and the first resort has begun to open. This archipelago has the capacity to become the next Maldives once the accommodation on its unspoilt archipelago begins. Cristal clear hot water and desolate sandy beach and jungle-covered islets are a real natural haven, growing less and less common in the area.
Besides the medium-sized sailboats, Mergui (Myeik) Archipelago has become a new target for luxurious yacht such as Dunia Baru, Lamima and Silolona, which you can reserve via Discovery VIP trips. New Wa Ale Tented Camp (pictured) will open in December 2017 and is a first class lodging in the archipelago.
This archipelago was a traditional destination for several days of scuba liveaboards and yachting. However, in the last two years it has also been possible to make daily excursions from Myeik and Kawthaung. Both Myeik and Kawthaung can be accessed by internal flights from Yangon. You can also reach Kawthaung via the Thai checkpoint in the immediate vicinity of Phuket.
