The Myawaddy (Burmese: ??????????) is a Myanmar army TV channel located in Yangon and Naypyitaw, Myanmar. Created on 27 March 1995 to commemorate Burma Armed Forces Day. The programme will also be transmitted on the AsiaSat 2 spacecraft. There is an avarage broadcasting time from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. per day, but there may be extra conditions for the format.

Myanmar's digital TV transformation

The Myanmar TV station was first established in 1979 as a test in Yangon. Myanmar Radio & TV (MRTV) was established on June 3, 1980, and in 1981 it officially began operating on a scheduled basis. There are four TV channels in Myanmar today. Burma Radio & TV (MRTV) is a national TV channel under the Ministry of Information (MOI) that broadcasts nationally with 233 channels that can reach 92.3% of the people.

The Myawaddy Television (MWD) is under the Ministry of Defense. Together, MRTV-4 is developed by MRTV and Forever Group Co.

The MRTV-4 and the corresponding TV channel began with DVB-T in 2005. Approximately 50 broadcast in Yangon and 10 broadcast in 28 outstations. The Forever Group has released 8 high-definition and 16 SD programmes with two DVB-T2 broadcasters in Yangon. The Sky Net TV is a joint venture of MRTV & Shwe Than Lwin Co.

It is a Direct To Home (DTH) multi-play services system that transmits over 60 of them. As a National Broadcaster, MRTV follows the ITU and National Digital Broadcasting Committee (MNDBC) in Myanmar's transition to a new, higher level of digita-tion. The date for national analog shutdown (ASO) is 31 December 2020 (provisional) and the Ministry of Information is the ASO.
