What is the best timeframe to come to Myanmar? Myanmar's best period for a trip is between November and February, with hot, arid weather accounting for the majority of Myanmar's yearly visits. However, a trip to the "green season" (the immediate month on both sides of these high seasons ) can be rewarding for those who want to discover important places in greater serenity.

Though Myanmar has two different times of the year - humid and arid - you can still enjoy the year-round. However, at the height of the rainy period, some areas become closed and some, such as Ngapali Beach, nearby, become unapproachable to prepare for the strong wind and rains that hit the coastline every year.

As in much of Southeast Asia, Myanmar's drought lasts from October to May and the rainy period from May/June to early October, when the Southwest Moon begins to soar. In all seasons there are fluctuations in year round weather, with the driest rainy seasons (March and April) and the early rainy seasons (May and June) usually being the warmest of the year when the weather can be astronomically high.

After the rainy season, the cooler seasons of October to December/January, when it is cooler in the runners and in the highlands, especially at noon. Bagan and Mandalay plain are the dryest areas of the land and will stay relatively arid until August.

The temperature in the whole Himalayas is strongly influenced by the height, and therefore the mountain resorts, ponds and spurs of the Himalayas are much colder than the lowlands to the southerly side and the coast area. Usually the northern, top middle and east areas are at a higher elevation than the western, lower middle and southerly ones, where air moisture is higher and temperature of over 40°C in March and April is not infrequent.

Myanmar's best few weeks to stay are from November to February, although this is also the busyest month when finding a place to live can be a problem. In the opinion of many seasoned travelers, the "mid-season" on both sides of this high seasons is the best travel seasons, as the wheather is still very good (even if it is "cooler" in the month before the high seasons and "hotter" in the month after the high seasons) and the rush is much lower.

Anywhere in the countryside, except in the warmest part of the year, it is often wise to have a sweater or wool for the evening when there is a trend for it to get quite chilly. Though Myanmar has two different times of the year - humid and arid - you can still enjoy the year-round.
