Burma creates Myanmar Accessible Tourism Centre
Mira Travels, the travel agency, in cooperation with the Myanmar Independent Living Initiative and the Myanmar Tourism Guide Association in Yangon, successfully held the first of its kind in Myanmar - Disability Inclusive Education for Tourism Sector Program (DITTS) on July 27, 2017. More than 250 travel guide entries met with great interest from the organisers.
Because of the restricted capacities, only one-fifth of the candidates were able to take on this type of schooling. Some 55 tour leaders were trained. This educational programme is an innovation of Accessible Myanmar, an innovation of Mira Travels, which was supported from the beginning by the UK AID Business Innovation Facility (BIF) within the Product & Package Innovation Competition (PPIC).
The UK Aid is the formal body for the promotion of sustainable and sustainable economic and social cohesion in the world. Vice-Director General of the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, Director of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Assistance and Relocation, Senior Advisor to the Myanmar Tourism Federation, Vice-Chair of the Union of Myanmar Travel Association and Chairman of the Myanmar Tourist Guide Association took part in the opening ceremonies of the schooling.
During the meeting Dr. Lu Mon, Mira Travels MD, announces the creation of the Myanmar Accessible Tourism Center (MATC) with the aim of developing the Accessible Myanmar Accessible Tourism Center into a socially responsible business and improving collaboration with NGOs and government agencies.
