Mandalay, the last capitol of Myanmar's third empire, is the second biggest town, both a busy trading centre and an old culture centre. When you arrive, you' ll be taken to the church of Maha Muni Pagoda, which houses one of the holiest Buddha sculptures in Myanmar. Proceed to Mandalay in Amarapura, Myanmar's second to last royal town.

Celebrate your stay in a silversmith's shop and get to know the village musician. Finish the outing at the legendary U Bein's Bridges, Myanmar's longest timber footbridge, which crosses Taungthaman Lake and defies the winds and swirls. This evening you will be enjoying your evening meal in a typical regional cuisine. Incl: Meals:

Reception breakfasts & lunches. Following an early morning breakfasts, transfers to the pier and aboard the shuttle and spend a full afternoon enjoying the Irrawaddy River, the longest rivier. The Irrawaddy is a beautiful place to relax while sailing through the stunning scenery of Sagaing, Pakokku and Myaingyan.

Arrival in Bagan and transfers to your hotels and spend the night in peace. Incl: Meals: Breakfast, lunches and dinners. Today you will be visiting the most important and well-preserved rambling sites, among them Gubyaukgyi, Htilo Minlo Pahto and the astonishing Ananda Pahto Temple. Later you will attend a small community college to give lunches to about 300 schoolchildren.

You will have time for the rest of the afternoon after having your meal in a nearby eatery. It is a wonderful night to eat with a native hosts and to have a meal at home with home-made specialities.

Take an elective tour to Mount Popa, an extinguished lava cave with stunning overlooks. Incl: Meals: Breakfast, lunches and dinners. Visiting Phwar Saw Village near by, you will see the countryside of Burma. In the afternoon, after luncheon at a typical Bagan restauran bar, you will discover Bagan and some other places that are not accessible by regular transportation, from the viewpoint of a classic ponycar.

Then you will go to the ruined stupas and temple of Inndein. Stop in Nampan to see how to make some cigars, and then on to the small hamlet of Paw Khone, which specialises in weavings.

Mornings: Back to Nyaung Shwe by ferry, then to Heho for the plane back to Yangon. Eat your meal in a tavern before heading to the National Museum to study Burma's rich past over the centuries.
