Best beaches in Myanmar - Ngapali Beach comes first
If you think about beaches in Southeast Asia, you might think of Thailand first..... When it comes to Myanmar, most only think of the beautifully ornamented palace or gold pagoda, the long story of the Bagan Temple or the sparkling Inle Lake; but that does not mean that there are no nice beaches in Myanmar.
The Ngapali is one of the most popular and perhaps the number 1 beaches for first-time visitors to Myanmar. There is more than Ngapali. Returns only to Yangon. From Yangon it is 18-24 hrs by coach. Ngapali should be your first port of call if you are looking for a crowded and noiseless place to be.
It is situated on the coastline of the Bay of Bengal in the state of Rakhine, south-west of Myanmar. It is 3 km long, with smooth sandy beaches and clear waters, lined with palms. When you think that it is no different from other beaches, think of its peculiarities: it is relatively calm and tranquil, empty and untouched.
Ngwe Saung is the perfect place for a relaxing place near Yangon for a brief vacation on the sea. From Yangon it will take 5-6 hrs to get to Ngwe Saung by coach. It is the longest one in Myanmar and extends for 15 kilometres.
When you look around, you don't see many crowds, even in high seasons. Looks like the whole shore has been rented to you. Perhaps the beaches here are less romantically than others, but they are more connected to the life of the locals. Maybe the sandy and wet herds are not as good as in Ngapali and the beaches are not finished yet, but Ngwe Saung has some more benefits.
Ngwe Saung has all types of accommodations to fit your budgets, from low-end, to mid-range, to high-end. The general cost is lower than at Ngapali Beach. You can' t think of that in Ngapali. The Lover Island, which you can walk to, is the symbol of Ngwe Saung Beach, which is advertised on many leaflets or flyers.
You can buy shellfish from the locals on the islands (after negotiations) at a very reasonable cost and then eat them locally boiled, preserving the pristine shells. The Kanthaya Beach is not far from Ngapali Beach, so you can come and see it if you still want to go to Ngapali.
However, it is not advisable to plan a specific journey to Kanthaya. The Kanthaya is the home of many tropic bird species. There are 4 beaches. 5-kilometre It has a slightly granular gold sands, not as inviting as the smooth blank Ngapali sands. It is not a so-called tourist sandy spot, but rather a place of leisure for families.
The Chaung Tha is more a reflection of the daily routine of the natives than other beaches. You' ll see natives play guitars, play soccer, have a picknick or enjoy a firework display on the beaches at noon. It is a great way for you to find out more about what is going on locally. The rubbish on the side of the road after a week-end or public holidays could upset you.
They may also be disillusioned with the hotels; the major clients here are not foreign, so the amenities will not be apt. However, if you only want a place near Yangon with a sandy and sunny spot, you can take a break and come and visitus. The life and friendliness of the locals could touch you.
Over 800 islets are spread like gems across the Andaman Sea and Khayinkwa Island is one of them, in the Myeik Archipelago, about 75 kilometres from Kawthaung - the most southern city of Myanmar. Mergui Island's beaches may not be as long as others, but what makes it stand out is its shelter.
