All over Myanmar (also known as Burma) tens of millions of people are internally displaced and cannot returne. Since the outbreak of the intra-Community dispute in 2012, the United Nations has estimated that more than 168,000 refugees have been internally displaced. 2. Since the outbreak of violent attacks in Myanmar at the end of August 2017, some 500,000 Bangladeshi refugees have been reported by the United Nations.

This is exacerbating other issues, such as nutritional insecurity: More than 162,000 face nutritional uncertainty and another 78,000 need immediate aid, according to the World Food Programme. Islamic Relief USA Fellowship, in conjunction with the Islamic Relief International Group, has benefited the lives of tens of thousands in Myanmar.

Islamic Relief has been helping as a member of the Islamic Relief community throughout Myanmar since 2012. In 2015 an Islamic Relief Myanmar was opened. However, as local circumstances are still grim, the number of vulnerable groups and the need for more help is growing. With many of our relief programmes in the region now complete, US Islamic Relief is continuing its effort with 2005 Ramadan and Qurbani distribution to the needy throughout the year.

The Islamic Assistance is also working proactively to further programmes and distribution of relief to help those affected by ongoing conflicts and violent situations in the area.

Rohingya migrants from Myanmar are expected to have reached Cox's Bazar District in Bangladesh since August 2017,1 which brings the number of Rohingya migrants living in Bangladesh to around 915,000. At Kachin, there are about 100,000 internally displaced persons in refugee camps following the conflict between Myanmar's military and the Kachin Independence Army.
