NAS PYI TAW, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Aung San Suu Kyi, chairwoman of Myanmar's governing National League for Democracy (NLD), was named the country's new secretary of state on Wednesday and simultaneously holds three other ministries in the new state. A Yangon House of Representatives (lower house) representative, Suu Kyi, was reborn on 19 June 1945 in Yangon, Myanmar, formerly known as Burma.
She was murdered in 1947 by her late sire, General Aung San, the then de facto premier of British Burma. In 1960, her native Daw Khin Kyi was named India's emissary. Suu Kyi went back to Myanmar in 1988 to look after her failing mom, and her situation changed dramatically.
Suu Kyi was placed under home imprisonment by the Suu Kyi administration in 1989, and she was held for 15 of the next 21 years. Suu Kyi won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 and was eventually freed from home in November 2010. She took part in a by-election in 2012 and won a seats in the Lower Houses of Parliament of the Netherlands National Democratic Party (NLD).
Later she was nominated by the House of Commons to chair the Rule of Law and Order Committee. Aung San Suu Kyi, chairwoman of the National League for Democracy (NLD), was on Wednesday named the country's new secretary of state, who also holds three other ministries in the new administration under the leadership of elected president U Htin Kyaw.
