Hotels News: Inaugurations throughout Myanmar

With Myanmar welcoming more and more guests, there are a number of new hotels all over the nation, from gorgeous Ngapali Beach to Inle Lake and Yangon. Burma is looking to the brighter side with all the new hotels that have recently opened and will go live in 2018.

Pristine Mermaid Resort (the Pristine Lotus in Inle' brother) and the little Sandoway Resort are now open at Ngapali Beach. The Loikaw Lodge in Kayah State, Inle Sanctuary on the banks of Samkar Lake (south of Inle Lake) and Blue Vanda in Nyaung Shwe are our new favorites in the Noth.

For the larger towns we keep our eye open for the Hilton Mandalay and Pullman Yangon, which will be competing with the recently opened Lotte and Pan Pacific hotels in Yangon. Yangon's historic inner courtyard is one of the city's top tourist destinations. We are also looking forward to the long-awaited opening of other historic hotels such as Kempinski Yangon and Excelsior Yangon - which are due to open sometime in the summers in Myanmar.

The Hilton cooperates with the Eden Group, announcing five new hotels

Hilton Worldwide, an US hospitality company, has increased its footprint in Myanmar and signed a five additional hotels management agreement after joining last year. Hilton of Virginia will work with the Eden Group to operate two of its hotels, Thingaha Garden in Nay Pyi Taw and Thingaha Ngapali at Rakhine State Strand Estate.

The two hotels will be renamed Hilton Real Estate and will welcome their first visitors this year. As well as these two sites, Hilton said on June 11 that it expected to open the Hilton Bagan and Hilton Inle Lake in 2016, followed by the Hilton Mandalay in 2017.

"Launching five Hilton homes in the major Nay Pyi Taw, Ngapali, Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake locations underscores our involvement in Myanmar and we look forward to working with a strong Eden Group experienced and respected business to further expand our presence in this vibrant country," said Andrew Clough, Hilton Worldwide SnrVD. Vic. of Middle East & Asia Pacific in a declaration.

Thingaha Garden with 200 rooms was due to open in good season for the ASEAN summit in May, but is only just about to be completed. Mister Clough said there were only a small number of changes that need to be made to get the feature up the Hilton Standards. It is expected to open in good timeframe for the second ASEAN Summit of the year in November.

A 51-room beachside spa is also being modernized at Thingaha Ngapali. Hilton announces its intention to expand despite continuing delay in opening its first Yangon facility after a transaction previously agreed last year. Hilton signed an arrangement with Thailand's LP Holding in March 2013 to administer Hilton Yangon at Centrepoint Tower, a mixed-use development in central Thailand.

Mr Clough said to the Myanmar Times that the operation had been postponed again, with the opening now scheduled for 2015. "We want the opening of the building as soon as possible," he said. More than 2 million visitors to Myanmar in 2013, according to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

Whereas less than half of them travelled by plane via Yangon, 3 million people were expected to visit in 2014. Against the backdrop of this increase, the London-based World Travellers and Tourists Council (WTTC) said in a March survey that Myanmar's tourist and tourist revenues will increase by 9%.

The Eden Group is one of Myanmar's biggest agglomerates and was established in 1990 by U Chit Khine, the company's CEO. Among them are the Presidential Palace and the Defence Museum in honour of the Myanmar Army or Tatmadaw.
