Burma National Airlines faces the challenge of an aggressive global growth strategy
The Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) plans to further expand its global operations in 2017 as it progressively acquires more than 737-800 aircraft. In August 2015, MNA started delivering the first of 10,737 aircraft, but the extension of the aircraft pool and grid was slow than originally scheduled. MNA' s first overseas flights also had problems, so that the mean overseas capacity utilization was less than 50%.
MNA' s efficiency has improved, especially on the Singapore flight, but the state-owned airline still has to negotiate major barriers to become profit. Myanmar's global markets are highly competitive, as are all five of the five global lines that MNA now has. In 2016, MNA gained only 4.5% of Myanmar's global air traffic in the country, while its domestic competitor, Myanmar Airways ltd (MAI), gained only 7.5%.
Overseas carriers have a comparative edge, making it virtually impossibility for MNA or MAI to find new, cost-effective global destinations. The CAPA membership also provides a full range of our utilities, which include a customized choice of more than 400 news letters per week and extensive information and analytics on tens of thousand businesses around the globe.
Burma National Airlines flies back into the sky
Myanmar National Airlines (MNA), formerly Myanma Airways, crossed national frontiers for the first ever in more than two decennia. Yangon Airport's first 67-year-old airliner to Singapore at 10:15 a.m. last night is in the middle of the company's multi-million-dollar conversion, which entices overseas travelers and builds competitive localities.
Launched in Singapore in early 2016, the new Singapore route, the first of five Asia-Pacific flights, is the MNA's first ever scheduled intercontinental route since 1993. It chose the Lion City via Bangkok because the journey to Singapore is longer and the city has better access to the world.
He said Bangkok deserves a lower place on the shortlist because of its closeness to Yangon. Meanwhile, the new Boeing 737 from MNA will be flying the flight to Singapore, he said in a declaration. Nine more planes will be added to the plane, which landed in Myanmar in June, in the coming years.
This renewed mark gives "the nation an air carrier that will be a powerful competitor in the area, worth hoisting the national flag," Capt Than Tun said in a declaration today. In addition, the carrier offers staggered flights in a number of categories: Standard, Professional and Economical. Burma National Airlines has already upgraded its corporate identity.
MYANMAR Civil Aviation began in 1948 as Myanmar Civil Aviation with domestic service to 19 destinations, and began operations to Bangkok, Calcutta and Chittagong in 1950, the corporation said. It was re-established two years later under the Union of Burma Airways Act, with 41 years of flying internationally.
For 25 years from 1989, the company operated only in Germany under the name Myanma Airways - until then. The MNA now occupies most of the home bases served by any Myanmar airlines. 26. Burma National Airlines is entering the global market at an important time for the state. Myanmar's Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is expecting 4.5 to 5 million visitors to Myanmar this year, and 7.5 million by 2020, as already covered by the Myanmar Times.
In the near term, Minister U Nyan Htun Aung forecasts an increase in the number of international travelers of more than 25 per cent and is hoping that the results of the elections will give a good picture of Myanmar and lead more international travelers and visitors to the state. There are daily departures between Yangon and Singapore except Saturdays.
There is a possibility of starting your day-to-day flight at the end of October. This itinerary leaves Myanmar at 10:15 a. m. and returns at 5:30 p. m. CET. At $239 for round-trip travel from Yangon and SGD289 from Singapore, the airline's fares are highly competetive, even though low-cost airlines have surpassed their advertising rates.
