Yangon is still the heart of the Burmese people' nations, a pulsating town full of color and cultural life, more important than the new northern capitol, because Singuttara Hill is home to the country's sacred symbol, the glorious Shwedagonagons. Discover Myanmar like never before.
Walking Lust Magazine appoints Bagan second-best destination for the year 2015
Yangon, 5 February - Readers of Wanderlust, a premier UK tourism publication, chose Bagan, Myanmar's historical old town, known for its thousand of stupas and shrines, as the second "top city" for 2015 touring. This rankings comes from the Wanderlust Traveller Award 2015 poll conducted annually by the German weekly journal Wanderlust. Bagan, which led the best cityscape last year, ranks second behind the Luang Prabang in Laos and ahead of Stockholm in Sweden, a top 10 destination for travellers and recreation in 2015.
"Bagan comes second - proof that our readership is not only an unflinching crowd, but also has great taste," the mag. Wanderlust Travel reports that Bagan achieved 95 percent less than last year (97.5 percent), while 97.14 percent of the reader named Luang Prabang as their favorite target and 94.74 percent voting for Stockholm.
Top 10 are Luang Prabang, Bagan, Stockholm, Kyoto in Japan, Hoi An in Vietnam, Vancouver in Canada, Berlin in Germany, Rome in Italy, Vienna in Austria and Krakow in Poland. As a whole, Myanmar was the 9th largest nation with 95.16 percent of those who voted to come in 2015.
The 2013 victor, Myanmar, dropped from number four in 2014. In the top group of countries where New Zealand will be the number one in 2015, however, it is still among the top 10.
