Making the most of Myanmar
These are our favorite places to visit in Myanmar: Formerly known as Rangoon, Yangon's colorful architectural style recalls the time when the British ruled the town in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Shwedagon' s 300-foot tower overlooks the town, pulling everyone to its gilt, diamond-studded tower. It is the most honored in Myanmar and is said to keep wisps of Buddha's head and go back to over 2,500 years ago.
Many luxury resorts in the cities offer accommodation at westerly rates. Near the center of the land and on the Irrawaddy River, this old civilization offers more than 2000 surviving shrines and stupa dating from the eleventh to the thirteenth cent.
One of Bagan's most favourite places is the Nyaung U Bagan International Airports. Bagan is a 20 minutes car ride from the Aiport. From Yangon (overnight) and Mandalay (10 hours) there are trains to the area, and buses also run from Mandalay (6-7 hours).
As a self-styled cultural center, it is home to a busy trading and business community and the biggest town in the land after Yangon. It is a bike town, so hire a bike and discover the clearly marked and neon-covered roads before setting off to the few sight.
Mahamuni Buddha Temple shows a four meter high Buddha sculpture covered in a golden foil and adorned with jewellery. It is another of the holiest places in the land, and masculine believers and walkers line up to attach golden leafs every day to the sculpture. It is very common to rent a chauffeur and see places of interest that are not within walk of the citycenter.
The Mandalay hills offer a great view over Mandalay and the surrounding area and hosts many more palagodas and churches. At the edge of Amarapura is the well-known U Bein Bridges, a 1.2 km long wooden deck over a flat pond (beautiful at sunset). lnle lake: The fresh water pond boasts a collection of stilted towns, swimming pools and marketplaces, historical buddhistic convents and shrines, mountain people, illustrious weavers and bustling fishermen and a distinctive flavours.
The most famous pictures associated with Myanmar are the fishers of Inle, who use a special technology of rowboats with their feet. It is very much loved on the touristic tour of the countryside, which means that the facilities are improved and high class accommodation appears every single working night in the neighbouring city Nyaung Shwe.
We recommend a full excursion by ferry, but note that the boatman will take you to the tourist oriented stores on the lakes. The best time to see huge numbers of migratory flocks of migratory bird on the shores of the lakes is December and January, and there is an annually worthwhile year-end September or early October event in the area.
Beach Ngapali: Ngapali, seven km from Thandwe and an international airfield, is the country's leading seaside town. It is a 3km stretch of sand and is littered with quality resorts and hostels, deckchairs, dining and massages. It is much quieter than other beloved South East Asian beach and is also home to less bargaining.
