The Myanmar Institute of Information Technology
The Myanmar Institute of Information Technology (Burmese: ??????????????????????????????????????; MIIT for short) is a technical college based in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay, Myanmar. Founded in 2015 as a JV between the Ministry of Education, the Government of the Republic of Myanmar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India.
It has been awarded the title of National Competence Centre for Computer Sciences and related fields. Currently MIIT is offering two Bachelor of Engineer (Honours) courses in Computer Sciences and Civil and Electronic and Telecommunications Eng. It' s on the edge of Ngu Shwe Wah and Ngu Shwe Street, just south of the Mandalarthiri Stadium and just south of Mandalay Chanmyathazi Airport.
The Government of the Republic of Myanmar and the Government of the Republic of India on May 28, 2012 in Mandalay, Myanmar. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was approved for the establishment of the Myanmar Institute of Information Technology (MIIT). Under the MoU, MIIT will be built and run on the basis of the International Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) success story in India.
MIIT was established in 2015 as the National Centre of Excellence of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Government of the Republic of Myanmar, on the basis of the MoU. The MIIT began its activities as part of the Ministry of Education (MoE) when MoST was amalgamated into part of the CEE in 2016.
The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) has been selected as the mentoring body for Myanmar's MIT and will carry out the MIT by establishing, running and transmitting a successfully operational MIT to the Myanmar government by December 2020. Michiit is a bi-lateral joint venture between Myanmar and India.
Myanmar Government will be responsible for the Myanmar Military Information Technology Centre site, the facility, the necessary facilities and personnel. India's government will give funding, technology and academics. These include the establishment of a modern IT infra-structure at MIT as well as academical and administration structure and procedures that allow the MIT to develop into an internationally recognized institution within a relatively brief space of years.
The Indian School will lead the MIIT professorship through a powerful, international similar syllabus and contribute to the development of capacities through disciplined departmental development programs. The MIIT provides candidates with the opportunity to be admitted to various courses of study exclusively on the merits of the candidate. To be admitted to the Bachelor's courses, these are the grades of the aptitude test, i.e. the Abitur exam of Myanmar.
The system uses a weighed mean of the applicant's achievements in the aptitude test and the placement test (carried out by MIIT) to generate a service schedule.
