Burma Airports - International Flights
Yangon International is Myanmar's primary gateway. The Mandalay International Airports offers interesting international flights to Thailand, Singapore and China. Here we have list the carriers that fly to/from Myanmar. Timetables change a lot in Myanmar, check the web sites of the carriers. It' good to check rates and different destination combination, sometimes it is better to buy 2 round-trip airfares (: your city/Bangkok and Bangkok/Yangon, for example) than one round-trip from your home town.
Ensure that you have received your Myanmar visas before your date of departure, your identity card must be valid for at least six month from the expat.
Gold Myanmar Airlines sets course for Singapore
Gold Myanmar Airlines will be launching its first international flights in the south-east Asian state of Myanmar, also known as Burma, just two month after the start of operations. As of March 15, 2013, the airline is planning a Yangon to Singapore connection every day and a Yangon to Bangkok connection every day from March 31, 2013.
Of course, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur will also be part of the airline's expansion plan as soon as more Airbus aircraft are purchased. In January, operation began between Yangon and Mandalay, Myanmar's two major towns. While the first two international services will put the airline in a position to face immediate competitive pressure from some of Asia's top airlines, it is optimistic that its cheaper infrastructure will make it competitive with its competitors, while its low-cost offer will encourage an already growing commercialisation.
According to Myanmar transport figures, international flights from Myanmar increased by 31.2 percent in 2012. Yangon - Singapore is already operated by the domestic airline Myanmar Airways International and Singapore Airways SilkAir, Singapore Airways and the low-cost airline Jetstar Asia Airways. Altogether these companies have more than six flights a days, this months 32,995 passengers in each destination.
Golden Myanmar's flight will increase total production by 10.3 percent. By 2012, an expected 345,000 bi-directional O&D travelers were on the track, an increase of 16.0 percent. Averages have already dropped by a fifth in the last 12 month and this is expected to persist following Golden Myanmar's entry into the aviation world.
Yangon - Bangkok is already operated by the Thai airline Bangkok Airways and the Thai airline Bangkok Airways International. All in all, these companies operate more than eight flights a days, this months with 38,560 passengers in each destination. Golden Myanmar's flight will increase overall production by 10.3 percent.
The number of bidirectional O&D customers traveling on the line is expected to be 586,000 in 2012, 13.7 percent more than in the year before. The following chart lists the 20 biggest international O&D stores in Myanmar. Myanmar's research shows that Golden Myanmar has first chosen the country's two major international locations as its first offshore locations.
The other planned stores in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong were the third-largest and twelfth-largest O&D stores in 2012. This, probably the next step in Golden Myanmar's growth, will allow it to penetrate other competitively priced market. Dragonair (Hong Kong) and AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and Myanmar Airways International (Kuala Lumpur) already fly to the suggested destination of Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.
