In 2017, Myanmar had a budget shortfall of 4.40 per cent of the country's gross domestic product. Myanmar's national budget was -3.48 per cent of gross domestic product on average from 1994 to 2017, and reached an all-time high of 0.90 per cent of gross domestic product in 2012 and a historic low of -7.10 per cent of gross domestic product in 2000.

The State budget is a breakdown of the accounts of government revenue (taxes and other levies) and government revenue (purchases and transfers).
Deficits arise when a government is spending more than it is borrowing. On the contrary, a budget shortfall is a budget overhang. Myanmar's national budget offers current figures, historic information, forecasts, graphs, stats, business calendars and newscasts. National and regional budget summaries - Contains a synthesis of the most important government or regional expenditures and revenues disclosed. Sub-national Budget Explorer - Allows a single budget item and department to be compared across several countries and geographies. Unions Budget Summing-- Allows the users to check a single item in the Union budget in the course of a given period.
Budget-Explorer - provides an easy way to browse and download budget information by a range of criteria such as budget year and classifications. OMI is currently working on improving the eshboard and extending the available information. There is a hint about the budget data:
This information is taken from public journals that have been issued and authorised by the legislator. Whilst every effort has been made to review the numbers, it is important that the user reviews the released budget to make sure that the numbers are in line with the latest budget reviews.
