The Yangon Region - The few remaining forest areas have been severely degraded. Myanmar is still a stronghold for closed crown forests, but there is serious deforestation in some areas. Burma has one of the largest forests in the world. Wooded area, kmĀ²: Burma wants to double the protected forest area.

Myanmar's forest area (km2) was 290,410 in 2015. Forests are an area under a minimum of 5 m of naturally or cultivated forest stand, whether or not in place, and exclude forest stand in farm produce schemes (e.g. orchards and agroforest systems) and forest cover in municipal parklands and garden.
