The Myanmar Country Study 2016

The aim of this survey is to give a clear and succinct image of the sector, employment legislation, working terms and working relationships in the textiles and clothing at work. It will be conducted by collecting information on domestic legislation and the views of stakeholders on labor matters in the apparel industries in Myanmar. Section 2, General Information on Clothing Manufacturers, discusses the state of the economy, society, politics, government and general HR on the basis of global performance measures and a comparison of the state with other clothing manufacturers.

Section 3, Stekeholder, briefly introduces the most important players in the apparel and textiles industries. It focuses on actors who have a real effect on working standards or who actively monitor the position of employees in the sector. It is a point of contact for those interested in working with or consulting a community in Myanmar for more information or help on their work.

Section 4, Clothing Industries, provides an outline of the apparel industries in Myanmar, manufacturing areas, product and perspectives for the industries. Section 5, Industrial Affairs, discusses the labour market context in the Philippines, both generally and specifically for the clothing sector. It provides important information to understand how well the working environment challenge can be addressed through the country's existing SDI.

Section 6, Implementing the FWF Code of Labour Practices, assesses the application of each of the standards of the FWF Code of Labour Practices against formal metrics (where available), legislation and regulation, and different stakeholder opinions on them.
