Burma continues to be very vulnerable to a variety of catastrophes such as flooding, hurricanes and cataclysm. Catastrophe prevention and reduction continue to be a top-priority to enhance vulnerability. Almost 120,000 refugees have been internally displaced in Rakhine State following the intercommunal conflict in 2012. Moreover, ten thousand refugees have been driven out since the October 2016 Rakhine state' s northerly boarder bombings and the ensuing safety missions.

Nearly 100,000 refugees in Kachin and Shan states are still internally displaced, and there are ongoing intermittent struggles and new expulsions.
