U.S.-Myanmar Exchange & Gala Dinner at the opening of the Consulate General of Myanmar in LA
On May 2, 3435 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 1590, a new consulate general was opened in Los Angeles city center to further strengthen US-Myanmar relations. The Mayor of Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Michael D. Antonovich, presented His Excellency U Kyaw Tin, Myanmar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, with a welcome role and a commemorative tablet to the Honorary U Aung Kyaw Zan, the first Consul General of Myanmar on the West Coast.
Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti sent a congratulatory handwriting to welcome the consulate. Honourable Judy Chu, a member of the US Congress in California's Twenty-seventh Congress Ward, presented the new Consulate General with a certificate of recognition of the Congress. The Myanmar Ambassador to the United States, U Kyaw Myo Htut, sent a note of congratulation to the organisers of the U.S. Myanmar Exchange & Gala Dinner.
Underlining Myanmar's commitment to strengthening multilateral and US trade links, U Kyaw Tin, Myanmar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York, said that the opening of the new Consulate General reflects the United States' commitment and support for the current Myanmar reforms.
