Debate on the creation of 100 classic Myanmar book collections
Union Minister for Information, Authors and Bookshops debated a suggestion for the selection and distribution of 100 classic Myanmar textbooks in Sarpay Beikman on Yangon's merchandise mall. CDU/CSU minister Dr. Pe Myint, himself a well-known Myanmar writer, said the government had been printing and distributing Myanmar's most important literary material for many years.
There will be 100 Myanmar book collections such as Harvard University that have released the Harvard Classics family.
New Myanmar Encyclopaedia, Myanmar Classics - Xinhua
YANGON, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Sarpay Beikman, or the House of Literature, is working to release a new Myanmar encyclopedia and 100 Myanmar classics, 64 years after the preceding ones were written in 1954, the Global New Light of Myanmar officially announced on Sunday. Sarpay Beikman's editor-in-chief, U Soe Myint Than, was cited as saying that an editing staff was established to aim for the release of the first book by September.
The Myanmar Classic Publishing Committee Secretary U Zeya also said that three books for 100 Myanmar Classics Volume-1 will be available for print and 81 books for Volume-2 and 3 will be preselected. They are epic from past epochs until today, followed by poetry, shorts, plays as well as essay, he said, and added that fiction will be released up to 17 books per new year.
New Myanmar Encyclopedia was launched in November 2016 and the real work began in February 2017.
