Burma Help

What is aid doing in Myanmar? In Myanmar, development aid continues to play an important role in supporting historical change. Sub-national conflicts, aid and development. And we also draw on the expertise of colleagues from other Christian aid teams in Asia and around the world. The NZ Aid Team visits Myanmar.

The French contribution to Rakhine's efforts to satisfy the needs of the population is ?2.3 million. The French authorities have agreed to provide 300,000 for the state of Rakhine in the event of human suffering. The aid, which complements French assistance to French NGOs on the spot, is designed to respond to the needs of IDPs and those affected by conflict.

In addition, France is to provide ?865,000 in 2017 for the population of the state of Rakhine. In 2017, France also provided more than 250,000 - part of its yearly volunteer contributions to the High Commissioner for Refugees (HCR) - to homeless and IDPs in the State of Rakhine.

Lastly, France will provide 900,000 in 2017 to help the Rohingya escapees arrive in Bangladesh, of which 300,000 for planned nutritional aid through a WFP grant. EU is one of the main donors of human aid in Burma (and France is the second biggest net donor to the EU budget).

On 15 May during his trip to Burma, Christos Stylianides, European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, pledged 12 million, of which 5.2 million has already been earmarked for health and nutritional assistance to the population of Rakhine State. In addition, the EU is making 3.8 million available for the reception of Bangladesh in 2017.

On 12 September, the EU also agreed to provide additional funding of 3 million to help the Rohingyas IDPs.

Bangladesh and Myanmar

In addition to our on-going work with those affected by the conflicts for two generation, we are dealing with the present emergencies that are affecting an estimated 525,000 Myanmarans. More than 120,000 of them are IDPs in the state of Rakhine. We have donated 6000 parcels of foods to those in despair from the recent one.

We' ve also helped 14 refugee centres, 50 towns and 60,000 refugees. We' ve educated 150 girls to make sewing uniform and making soaps, shampoos to make a livelihood, we've constructed a clinic and sanitation and we' re developing shelters. Throughout Ramadan 2017 we gave 7000 parcels of groceries.

In order to counter the emergencies in Bandarban County, Bangladesh, where some of the Myanmar displaced persons are coming, we have so far handed out parcels of nutrition to 1000 of them. The other work we do in Bangladesh includes a broad-based program of social and economic growth, with a focus on healthcare, literacy and livelihood, and has brought many thousand lives out of livelihood.

Every single contribution will benefit those who have suffered losses as a result of the Myanmar Depression. Thank you to our donators and helpers for having helped us help those who have escaped with nothing and have little or no contact with health services, housing, food and safe shelters.
