The portfolio program provides a QI framework and makes it easier to publish in QI magazines and QI meeting venues. As a portfolio program sponsor, an organisation can help its doctors meet the ABMS Certification Maintenance Program (ABMS MOC®) for improving medical practitioners (Part IV) through QI/PI based best practises for improving patients' outcomes.
Portfolio Program Reviewers are experts with QI/PI skills or a wide range of health care know-how in a subject area who help evaluate the proposals of organisations wishing to become program sponsors. Reviewers can also audit the efforts of existing program sponsors to verify adherence to the standards and policies of the portfolio program.
With MOCAM, program sponsors, program reviewers and doctors can participate in the portfolio program. This provides an enviroment in which portfolio program employees and ABMS board members can assess, provide and give MOC points for their contribution to a specific QI/PI program. Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program (Portfolio Program?), a American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) program, works with all kinds of healthcare organisations to identify what work doctors are already doing to enhance their practice and patient outcomes.
In this booklet, we describe how organisations can help doctors participate in QI/PI and provide doctors with Part IV funding for the American Board of Medical Specialties Program for Maintenance of Certification (ABMS MOC®).
