The inhabitants of the Mawlamyine Industrial Zone are protesting against the government for failure to resolve the nasty odour emissions from anti-money refineries.
Inhabitants of the Mawlamyine lobby will be protesting against the Mon state administration for failing to prevent the anti-mony refineries from giving off a bad smell in the lobby, even though over 200 inhabitants lodged complaints with the Mon state premier in March and April. The smell is unbearable.
We', said Ko Zaw Naing Oo, who runs the clothing store in the Mawlamyine Area. Neighbouring inhabitants of the industry area said that neighbourhoods' infants, older persons and ill persons were more affected by the unpleasant smell of the anti-money refineries in the industry area.
"We call on the state authorities to resolve the problem of poor odour emissions from the anti-money factory," said Daw Cho Cho Cho Cho Mar, a consumer of salads from the Mawlamyine lndustrial Area. Mr Daw Nyo Nyo Seint, a inhabitant of the industry area, said that anti-money refineries should not be constructed and operated near housing areas because the unpleasant smell is harmful to a population.
"The smell is not released on a regular basis. Broadcasts are made between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm and between 12:00 am and 3:00 am after looking at the inhabitants' state. Folks go out to observe the plant, they stop giving off the smell. Several of them even vomit," said Ma Nan Oo, a pasta salesman in the eastern part of the industrial zone.
Even though the Mon state administration minders, Mon foreign ministry state environmental protection minister and other administration officers have been inspecting the industry area, they have not yet been able to resolve the problem, according to the population. We have six refineries of anti-money in the Mawlamyine Area.
Myanmar Shin Shin Metal, Myanmar San Zaw and Northeast Sin Phyu Taw refineries were put to the test in December 2017, according to the Mon State Department of Environmental Conservation.
