The Lucky Dragon Hotel, Pyay, Myanmar

If you plan to go to Sri Ksetra and/or Akauk Taung, the city of Pyay is the right place for a near local basis, and we have a suggestion for a particularly good selection of hotels: The city has less expensive places, but this is an asset not only because of its beautiful condo-style mansions that surround the beautiful gardens that you see there, but also because of their location:

  • right across the riverbank, if you want to take a stroll in the evenings and make it pretty peaceful; - just around the next nocturnal Pyay Nightshow, and even if you are an old stager at oriental nightshows, Myanmar has a small city that is new at least for the sellers of thanakas;);
  • it' s about 15 minutes on foot to Shwesandaw Paya, a couch that' s especially deserving of a stop at dark; - and as a plus you have an outstanding sight of Sehtatgyi Buddha from the platform: It is definitely advisable to go out at sunset, as we have done; it is nice enough to just wander through the panorama that glows against the dark skies, but when you look eastwards and here is this 10-storey Buddha that glows in the middle of the dark and looks at you, the sensation is almost etheric.

So, when we planned your Myanmar journey, we were very much amazed at how much we enjoy our sojourn in Pyay; please suggest a city stop!
