This itinerary takes you through the old town and into typical regional eateries where you can sample nine different meals and four different wines. Accompanied gastronomic walks are offered all year round for 43 per person; please reserve in advance. In order to really appreciate the indigenous civilization, try your hands at handicraft.
You can also rent a bike in a bike store (15 per day) or in the Krekov tourism office (2 for up to two lessons, 8 ? for the whole day). Slow down - and eat some cakes - in Ljubljana's biggest play area. Drive along the riverbank and visit the longest vineyard menu of Ljubljana in the Dvorni Bar. It is an ideal starting point for discovering Slovenia outside the town. The Smarna Gora, a favourite footpath with a panorama view from above, is only 20 min northern of the university.
Just an hours northerly of Ljubljana you arrive in the Julian Alps, where you can discover glacier ponds - like Bledand Bohinj - and such a breathtaking landscape that you are sure to be immersed in a fairy tale. Less than an hours drive southwards from the town, Postonja, one of Slovenia's 11,500 caverns, and another 15 min. drive to Predjama, the world's fortress.
