The Yangon International Airport (sometimes also called Yangon Mingaladon Airport) is the main point of access for most passengers, although Mandalay International Airport has more and more links. Naypyidaw, the capitol, also has a number of international non-stop services. In Yangon there are more and more international long-haul non-stop-operations. Please find below the list of international airlines flying directly to Yangon.
Burma Airways International (MAI): Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap have been named as destinations to which MAI is currently operating on the current flight plan on its website, there are no services to these destinations (as of August 2014). Bangkok is used by most European, US and Australian travelers as a transportation junction to Myanmar.
The Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport is serviced by most large international airlines, and services from there and from Bangkok Don Mueang airport to Yangon are regular, quick and inexpensive. When your fligths mean you have to transfer from Bangkok airport, the trip by cab takes about an hours. Flying from Bangkok to Yangon takes about 50 min. and usually costs between $100 and $150 (depending on season and booking) with low fare airlines Air Asia or Nok Air.
Further Optionen sind Myanmar Airways International (MAI), Bangkok Airways et Thai Airways International. Other large local hub airports offering frequent air services to Yangon are Singapore (with Jetstar, Golden Myanmar, Tiger Air or Silk Air), Hong Kong (with Dragonair), Kuala Lumpur (with Air Asia or Malaysia Airlines) and Doha (with Qatar Airways).
There are also many other Asian and Middle Eastern markets, such as China, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Bangladesh and other Thai-distinations. The Mandalay International Airport is also being approached by more and more international air travel. The list of international services for Mandalay is below.
Air Asia offers departures every day between Myanmar's capitol, Naypyidaw and Bangkok Don Mueang. Bangkok Suvarnabhumi is run three days a week by Bangkok Airways. The New Gen Airways flight twice a week between Bangkok Don Mueang and the southernmost Myanmar municipality of Myeik. UExpress Charter, a JV between Myanmar Union Express Aviation and Myeik Public Corporation, is operating it.
The above prices are only valid for foreign travelers to Myanmar. The information above is liable to change by the airlines and persons authorized by them. For Yangon Airways and Air Mandalay, only hand held seats are available and will not be sent by Yangon until the guest arrives. The above rates include the airport tax to be paid by the airports. Fifty-six5% of the full price will be reimbursed and the reimbursement by the carrier itself will take 3 month.
